Addition is one of the four fundamental operations of arithmetic (along with subtraction, multiplication and division).
The result of an addition operation is called a sum.
We denote addition using the plus sign $+$, e.g. $a+b=c$

The inverse operation of addition is subtraction ($-$).
The identity element of addition is zero ($0$)
