algebraic number

An algebraic number is a root of a non-zero polynomial in one variable with rational coefficients.

the set of algebraic numbers is

where $n$ is the degree of the polynomial and $a_i\in \mathbb{Q}$ (though it is equivalent to use integer coefficients)

All rational numbers are algebraic.
