surjective relation

A surjective relation is a relation where every element of the codomain has at least one preimage element, i.e. the codomain of definition is equal to the codomain.

Formally,
a binary relation $R$ over sets $X$ and $Y$ is surjective if for all $y\in Y$ there exists a $x\in X$ such that $(x,y)\in R$.
