binomial experiment

A binomial experiment is a finite sequence of independent, homogeneous Bernoulli trials.

Formally,
a binomial experiment is an experiment such that

• the experiment consists of a fixed number of identical smaller experiments (trials)
• there are two outcomes to each trial, "success" and "failure"
• trials are mutually independent
• the probability of success is fixed between trials

A random variable which counts the number of successes in a binomial experiment is a binomial random variable, and it has a binomial distribution.
