comparable and incomparable elements

Distinguishing pairs of elements of a set $S$ equipped with homogeneous relation $R$:

Two elements $x,y\in S$ are incomparable with respect to $R$ if neither $xRy$ nor $yRx$.
In the case that either $xRy$ or $yRx$, $x$ and $y$ are comparable.
