A property is any characteristic that applies to a given object, defined via an indicator function.

Formally,
a property is the characteristic of each $x\in X$ by which the output $\mathrm{\Phi }(x)$ of the indicator function $\mathrm{\Phi }:X\to \{\mathtt{\text{true}},\mathtt{\text{false}}\}$ is determined.
